Pre-package Char Siew & Roast Pork from Supermarket

Saw these product in the supermaket and decided to do it for our lunch. So my wife went to heat up using both Air Fryer and Conventional Oven. If i not wrong, it costs about $9.80 for each pack. Not sure if we are executing the correct steps as instructed behind the package, but the end result is still ok. Char Siew is good. But the roasted Pork's meat is abit tough. But the taste is there and easy to prepare. This is definitely good for 4 people. Unable to finish all :(

Anson Town Bistro at ARK@Gambas

Actually I had tried this couple of times, but their Malaysian dishes were authentic. So I had dinner there with my wife. For drivers, this is a good place to park your vehicle. For public transport folks like us, it take some effort to come here, but its still not that difficult to come though. So for this time, I ordered their Chicken Cutlet Nasi lemak and Curry Chicken Noodles. However, I felt that Curry Chicken noodle is so-so. The Chicken Cutlet Nasi Lemak however is still one of the best dish they offered here at Anson Town Bistro. Their famous dish is their unique chee cheong fun, but i don't really like it. Its only for "niche people" :D

So just to hijack here, after this meal, i am going for my booster vaccination. Think taking the jab at night was the best. Because I will just go home and sleep after that. 

Hougang Otah @ Old Airport Road Food Centre

My wife had the traditional Nasi Lemak wrapped in banana leaf. Not sure if he prepared it or gotten through from supplier. But it was not bad. In addition, its otah really carries it Hougang Otah's branding. The otah was delicious. Simple breakfast to last till afternoon. For these type of Nasi Lemak, the greatest ingredients must-have is the chilli !

Xing Li Cooked Food @ Old Airport Road Food Centre

All right, this stall only sells Oyster-related dishes and I would always chose stall that sells the one and only one rather than other stall who sell a varieties of stuffs. My point is this stall must be specialized to cook and focus on this. So I can't help, but ordered a plate of Fried Oyster, the smallest size, $4. Their menu is selling Oyster Egg - $6 / $8 / $10 and Fried Oyster - $4 / $5 / $6 / $8.

Well i was right, it was really good and well fried by the uncle. However, i felt that the oyster is abit too raw, but that is probably my problem. Overall a good plate of fried oyster worth trying !

Golden Rooster @ CCK 302 FoodHouse

Just happened to pass by there and decided to have western food for my late lunch. I ordered Chicken Cutlet. Name of the stall is called Golden Rooster and I believed they have a few branches across Singapore. Yeah so this plate of chicken cutlet costs $7. This is considered the traditional type where they serves baked beans, coleslaw, french fries and the bun as sides. The bun looks oily, but its not deep-fried, just oily on the surface. Chicken Cutlet is decent, but would preferred the meat to be more tender and juicy. Still feels a little dry. So in terms of quality, i think is abit pricy, but portion is ok. 

He Zhong Carrot Cake @ Bukit Timah Food Centre

They apparently have two stalls there, but the one on the left is just frying of the carrot, while the right stall is the one taking the orders and frying the final product. No black version as they only have one type which is the white one. So they have different portion and the prices were $2.50, $3.00, $4.00 and $5.00. The one i tried above is the $3 one. Portion is good and the best part is their carrot cake is indeed good. I will rank it as the 2nd best Carrot Cake (White) in SG. No one had ever replace my Number 1, spot, Bee Bee Carrot Cake at Marine Terrace. Unfortunately it is permanently closed as they had retired. Stayed at Marine Parade for about 22 years since 1993, I had ate the number 1 carrot cake for 2 decades and till it closed at 2018. It was sad. He Zhong Carrot Cake is the next best, but the standard is quite wide apart still. 

Feng Xiang Bak Kut Teh @ Beauty World Centre

We ordered the bigger KL-style herbal Bak Kut Teh portion (S$6.90 - 1 Pax /S$11.90 - 2-3 Pax) and Vinegar Pig's Trotters (S$5.90). Honestly, I went there with very high expectation, because Malaysia is best known for their Herbal version of Bak Kut Teh. In summary, taste is quite bland and not heavy in flavor. Good for those who like it plain, but not for me. But portion and price is right. Vinegar Pig was ok. Overall is decent, but will not go all the way there for this.

朋友冰室- Friends Cafe HK @ Springside Walk

After hearing the hong konger themselves saying that this cafe is good and resembled the same experiences at Hong Kong. I can't stop myself from going to try it for myself. My wife and I went early morning at their opening hours. So somewhat even convinced me, there was already a large crowd queuing outside the shop.

Fortunately, we still able to squeeze into the first batch of customers entering the little HK cafe. We ordered their HK Style instant noodle, Pork Chop Rice, Iced Red Bean and some honey lemon* drink. The toast is free which comes with the main set. Well, having eaten these type of food in Hong Kong personally. I think the food standard is far from Hong Kong ones. The pork chop with garlic sauce was still not that bad. The sausage was good. The rest is quite normal. However, the curry fishball was way below our standard. What I can really say is try it for yourself. But probably go there for the ambience is ok. Price is decent. If i not wrong, unable to pay via credit card or nets. They only accept paynow, paylah, grabpay. Can't remember whether can pay by cash. But better to prepare in advance. I think many got caught by surprised, including me.

Giant Kaws art sculpture @ MBS Floating Platform

Giant Kaws art sculpture appeared in Singapore ! Wah power la, so many people here when I am here on 20 Nov 2021. Managed to get a shot before it is removed after 21 Nov 2021. Spotted people using drone to take sky shot, but i thought not allowed to do that at this time right? Furthermore, got so many people there. There are many pillar and net for safety reason but blocking a clear shot. So i took a shot with MBS backdrop.

And a shot with the Esplanade backdrop. Not really a fan of Kaws, but just happened to pass by here from my walk from Great World City to here :D

Tingkat PeraMakan @ Thomson Plaza

Having some Kuehs and Coffee at Tingkat Peramakan Thomson Plaza. There are a few more outlets at Owen Rd, ARC, Tampines Mart and PLQ Mall. For $10, we get ourselves two cups of Kopi C Kosong and Kopi O Kosong, 4 boxes of different kuehs. So far, i can say do far their kuehs were quite good standard and the location was quite cosy. But they are famous for their Nyonya dishes, will try it out some other time. I'm sure it will be good :)

[Nintendo Switch] Pokemon Shining Pearl - New Launch on 19 Nov 2021

So I bought it on Day 1 yesterday at member price. Preorder also had a free gift, Pokemon launch bag. Didn't really played the old Pearl and Diamond series of Pokemon, so I guess getting this title is a brand new overall feel of the game. Let's hope its done well unlike the Sword and Shield that I played previously. 

Usually in the pokemon game, there will be a rival. So in this version, they called him a friend, not a rival. Anyway I just named him as Siao Lang, because as the game progress goes, the character says so. So far, controls and graphics are pretty good.

Battle system is still the same, but modern classic. I chose my first starter Pokemon which is the fire-type, Chimchar which this version have very limited fire type pokemon. Greatest part is we no longer need "EXP share" item because it is automatically EXP share among all active pokemon. Last Pokemon Shield first released in Nintendo Switch was a bummer, it took me 2 days to complete the whole story. But of course this time, I am not playing this like a marathon :D

New 365 Step Tracker

Managed to register beforehand and get current Season 6 National Steps Challenge. Every two season, we are able to redeem one Fitness tracker. This is the latest model, Axtro Fit3 which included the Sleep Tracking function to earn some $$. This model is much bigger than the past few models, but still lack of build quality. I tried charging and use it for running and sleeping. So far, battery life is very impressive. Its free, but have to set expectation low and focus on earning the incentive !

Special Coke Series

Ok what I want to test here is the two special Coke series. The Himalayan Cola is just a distraction :P
So what I'm going to review here are the Coca Cola Coffee & Caramel and Coca Cola Coffee & Chocolate. Well, it really gave me very high hope and expectation out of this since it is so unique.

BUT... I will recommend everyone to get the permanent menu of Coca Cola better. I felt that these special blends doesn't really go well with Coca Cola. It is unique, but you will not want to drink this while enjoying delicious food. As a standalone, I think it is still not very nice. The Himalayan Rock Salt Cola tastes so much better as a standalone drink. Guess everyone understand what I mean ;D

100 Plus Hydration Bar (Original)

While shopping for Ice-Cream in the local Supermarket, we chanced upon a ice confection by 100 Plus. After a long run or exercise, 100 Plus is best for replenishing fluid in our body. This is also another way to hydrate the fluid in your body in addition of the cold factor. Although it is ice, due to the design, it will dissolve fast when we put into our mouth. The shiokness is there, but the quantity is isn't. Quite pricy for a box. Guess the bottle of iced cold 100 Plus works better in my opinion. 

Little Miss Coconut

 

Another coconut drink contender, Little Miss Coconut. Currently, throughout every coconut drink stall, the best is still Mr Coconut from Northpoint City. I would hope that every Mr Coconut's drink is consistent at every other location. Unfortunately, I tried Causeway Point and AMK Hub one, it didn't make the cut.

Back to reviewing Little Miss Coconut, there were no crowd upon getting the drink. Before my wife went to order a drink from Little Miss Coconut, the girl mentioned that they are not affiliated to Mr Coconut in any way =D After trying their Original Coconut Shake, their taste is so much difference, but of course is not good in any way. Just couldn't bring out any good points about the taste of the coconut drink. Probably the first and last order. 

New Apple Watch Series 7 45mm Edition

Here we are again at Apple Store at Marina Bay Sands. This time is the new Apple Watch Series 7 and its the biggest size in Apple's history, 45mm edition. Customer Service at Apple is certainly top-notch when you are getting something there. So this is an advanced Birthday Gift for my wife. As this is her first Apple Watch, she is now using Apple MacBook Air, Apple Airpods, Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max, Apple iPhone XS Max and now Apple's latest Watch Series 7. She ever tried Android, but didn't like it and preferred Apple's Eco-System.

I myself is using Samsung Watch 3 to utilize Samsung's Eco-System with its flagship, S21 Ultra and Tab S7. One of the Apple Watch Series 7 can actually buy two brand new Samsung Watch 3, so typically I felt that Apple Watch kind of overpriced. But touching and using Series 7 Apple Watch for a moment together with its Apple iPhone, does show that the feature is worth it. The build quality feels premium and solid for everyday use.

Covid-19 Ag Home Test

So far, this is one of the Covid-19 Home Test Kit which can be used to test for Covid-19 positive or negative. Nowadays it really form a test requirement for a person to work or play. We are already living with Covid-19 for 2 years and counting. Imagine when Covid-19 is non-existent, it will be a different world. Let's hope we will not be doing this and hope for miracle to save this world.

Kirin Honshibori [Orange] Alcohol Drink

Probably I added quite a lot of ice, but I kinda like Kirin Honshibori [Orange] Alcohol Drink. In japanese terms, Modern Japense Chu Hi (which is short for Shochu Highball) which is perfect for a sunny afternoon with friends. This drink is made of 45% of orange juice which is "healthy"? Haha, with a mixture of alcohol certainly can make you feel more relaxed to chill out. Somehow my ice melted and form a wading duck in my glass. Its not sweet, but it take away the bitterness of most alcohol drinks. This drink can be found in major local supermarket. 

[Starbucks] Creamy Chicken Foldover & Ice Caffè Mocha & Spook-a-ccino @ Canberra Plaza

All right, what I had here are Creamy Chicken Foldover & Ice Caffè Mocha & Spook-a-ccino. Just trying the creamy chicken foldover for the first time, well it sure have a lot of mushroom and chicken inside the pastry. My wife got the Spook-a-ccino, but seems like they didn't put the ghost in the drink. Every year, my wife will try the Starbucks halloween drink because it looks nice. For myself, i got the Caffe Mocha with Ice Cube and Whipped Cream. Think I should exclude whipped cream and the caffe mocha with ice cube will be perfect. Ice Blended is just not for me as i feel very difficult to finish the drink. I prefer a large flow of coffee going through my throat for maximized satisfaction.

[A&W] Double CheeseBurger @ Canberra Plaza

 Mmm, for me, the first thing I love about A&W is their Waffles and Root Beer. Other than that, I'm quite clueless. Had their 2 piece chicken meal, but is either here or there as many other Fast Food Restaurants had way better chicken than A&W. So yeah, just to try something else. So what I order is their Double Cheese Burger Set. The Root Beer and curly fries are unarguably good. Having eaten many other cheese burger, what i can say is A&W Double Cheeseburger have not much magic to make it better. So i have no complains. Its a normal decent Double Cheeseburger, thats all. Similar with their chicken set. Probably might try other items on the menu again.

Irvins Salted Egg Instant Noodles [Think collaboration with Nissin]

This is an interesting collaboration. Nissin is great at making instant noodles. Irvins is great at producing the best Salted Egg Flavour. So i can't help, but to sneak this cup noodle into my supermarket's basket.

To my surprise, it taste very good ! The salted egg is exactly what you get from Irvins and the texture of the noodle and garnish from Nissin makes the entire combination great. I think it costs $2.95. Bought it from NTUC Xtra at Ang Mo Kio Hub. Think I will get some if i see it at other NTUC outlets ! Worth trying if you like Irvins Potato Chip. Just hope you check for any Lizards before you eat xD [Just Joking if you understand]

Bencoolen Prawn Noodles, Pork Ribs Noodles and East Coast Wu Xiang 五香

Previously, i came here to eat solo. This time, I had to drag my wife down for good food. Also a chance to order more food :P

However, we arrived here at around 8.45AM. So far, the noodles, prawns and pork ribs were good ! Unfortunately, according to my wife, the ingredients and full flavor of the soup had not achieved the highest standard yet. It was slightly mild in taste, perhaps because we arrived too early. For the East Coast Wu Xiang 五香, my wife said that the ingredients are not as good as we ate at Beach Rd @ East Coast ones. What a boomer :D Agree to disagree :)

Teppan-Yaki @ Causeway Point

Ordered Double Set for Set A $35 (Exclude GST and Service Charge). Seems like ok since my wife wanted to try this for quite some time. The queue for this is always long, so we waited for 30 minutes+ to get both of us a seat. 

So the chef will cook the teppanyaki in front of us. Understand that probably seafood is expensive, but i can say that the quantity is not there. AND PROBABLY people mostly paid for the experience :/ which i find it not really worth the money. Food are so-so, but not terrible. Lots of pepper and salt put into the ingredient. 

[Lion Shield] Camera Flim Protector

Had been using this Lion Shield Camera Flim since day 1 after collection of my iPhone 13 Pro Max. Lion Shield first of all is a local brand. I tried my best to always support local brand. Item can be found at several shopping apps like Shopee, Lazada, Qoo10, etc. Although I do read reviews that their lens have scratches when delivered. But fortunately, when I first checked, it was flawless. However rest assured that they do replace for your faulty camera flim if found to be defect. Many do comment that camera flim degrade your camera lens quality of both video and images. What i usually do is snap a few videos and images before application. Then after applying, i will snap the same videos and images. So far, this product is not bad and the video and image quality is still flawless without any decrease in quality. SO I personally recommend applying these protection to your devices as they are certainly not cheap. It is definitely not funny if you found your camera lens is damaged.

New Windows 11 Free Upgrade for my Lenovo X395

Support for Windows 10 will end on Oct. 14, 2025. So today, I received Windows upgrade to Windows 11 via Windows update and pretty unsure whether I should go for it. One thing for sure I am looking forward is the built-in Integrated Android apps. Well still thinking and reading up whether there is any horror stories after installing Windows 11.

Samurai Chicken & Beef Burger [McDonald Canberra]

Tried both the Samurai Burgers from Mcdonald at Canberra Plaza last month when it launched. I got to be honest. As a time-limited special burger, its ok. Tasted ok, but definitely not ok as a permanent menu. The chicken burger have more sauces than the beef version. If i have to choose which is the better one, is definitely the beef Samurai burger than the chicken burger. The taste is certainly out of the norm, but somehow if I tried to eat multiple times, I felt that the quality of this burger is getting worst. For now, I will just leave it as it is and hope Mcdonald will do it better the next release. 

Saizeriya @ Sembawang Shopping Center

Saizeriya is a Japanese chain of family-style Italian eatery. Brings me back when I tried their Saizeriya outlets while in Osaka and Kyoto for travelling. They really put in the effort to prepare very good and affordable Italian food.

So just happened that we just wanted to have a light dinner, so we just went downstairs to take the free shuttle bus to Sembawang Shopping Center and after dinner, took back to shuttle bus straight back to our home. The mushroom soup is indeed good, the plain Aglio Olio is unexpectedly OK (a little spicy), the bacon & Mushroom Risotto was very good :D Only the chicken wings are ok, though my wife said is ok. Very good value and quality for the food. However, gone are the days where they offered unlimited drinks refill, thanks to "Covid"......

Coconut Series from Gong Cha @ Causeway Point

So i decided to try Gong Cha's Coconut Slush version since I am around the area. So I tried this, it was in fact not that bad. Original Coconut taste is in the drink. Comparing with Mr Coconut, Mr Coconut is better, but this is a lot better than "The Alley" version of their Coconut Slush. Price wise is cheaper than Mr Coconut. So this is worth getting for your coconut fixes if Mr Coconut is not in the area. 

Hot Tomato @ Causeway Point

Used to eat Hot Tomato at Bedok Point many years ago. It was affordable and good value western food. So decided to try two sets of their Chicken Chop. The chicken chop was ok. However, the mushroom soup and sausage was quite bad (almost tasteless). Seems that standard had dropped a lot and price range totally don't justified for such quality. Before Covid-19, they used to have large crowd queuing. But nowadays, the crowd are no longer there. I supposed thats probably why. Hope they can improve or else this is going to be bad moving forward...

[Walch] Speed Foaming Automatic Dispenser

Always wanted to buy this since the earlier part this year, but the price for this is $49.90. Felt that it is definitely way overpriced to the stage i felt that there is an error to the price. I guess probably they trying it out in the market, especially during covid-19 times. 

Fortunately, just last month, NTUC announced that they are selling it for $9.90. I thought it was a scam or error in pricing again, because it is a whopping 80% off, but I was wrong. My wife went to the nearby supermarket and verified that it is real. Without thinking much, I told her to get two boxes ! It was a limited time offer. I regretted not getting more (For my own use), as there are many scalpers selling in Carousel for $20 odd dollars. :/

As i am always using Dettol (Just push to squeeze out), this is really so much better for a $9.90 product. Many online dudes complained that it spolit after one month of usage. So far, I am happily using and it really save up the liquid from the speed foaming. I am thinking of refilling with Milk, so that I can foam onto my cup of coffee (Something striked my mind). The good thing about this is that we do not to touch or contact of any button, just hover across the sensor and the soap foam is good to go !
