CNY Day 9: Traditional Breakfast @ Tong Ah Eating House 东亞

Many years back, the old coffee shop used to operate in this building. The "then" coffee shop were sold off at a profit and they chose to operate the new store at the nearby shophouses later. My dad used to bring me here for breakfast during the past two decades. 

Today, I brought along my wife to try it. It was so much better than Heap Seng Leong

Coffee was good, but i heard many recommended the tea. Eggs are well cooked. Bread, we ordered the toasted and steamed type. Both were good. So do visit them at 35 Keong Saik Rd.

CNY Day 8: McDonald Prosperity Chicken Burger Meal

From what I observed throughout from CNY Eve and CNY itself, McDonald is one of the few eateries that opened throughout and large crowds are wanking food at the Fast-Food Outlet. I guess most of the CNY gatherings were also held at these places. However, from CNY Day 3 onwards, there should be lesser crowd and people will be scattering over to the rest of the cafes.

All right, let me get back to the main topic. During CNY, McDonalds will also offer its limited-timed menu which is the Prosperity Chicken or Beef Burger Meal. Maybe I can summarized my findings as I had ordered Prosperity Chicken Set.

Prosperity Chicken Burger - Portion is small. Taste only so-so. Both for its price. Was expecting some surprises, but no.
Curly Fries - It is indeed curly and definitely deserved to be in the permanent menu of Mcdonald. Its great with its Curry Sauce or Garlic Chilli.
Strawberry Pie - Taste good. Can say it is on par with its Apple Pie counterpart.
Peach McFizz - Didn't really expecting that this is good. But tried it, and turns out to be surprisingly good !

CNY Day 7: Happy Birthday to my Wife 2022 :D

This year, I get something special out from the norm outside shopping centre. It is a Ice-Cream Mao Shan Wang Cake. Price is around $40+. Initially wanted to get from Baskins Robbin, but the ice cream cakes' design seems quite standard. Hopefully will be good.

Went to the actual Gin Thye shophouse to get the Ice-Cream Cake to celebrate my wife's Birthday ! Collected the ice cream cake in the cooler bag and rushing back home to store in the freezer.

As our time is limited and busy these few weeks, I will take her to our favourite restaurant some time next week.

CNY Day 6: Random Walk at Ikea Alexandra

Actually this Tiger Bun looks very nice in picture. Oh no, the moment I said this, it can only mean that the outcome is not going to be like this right?

Haha guess we really need to consider also the steaming process. Still not too bad actually. Inside is Kaya filling and its kinda ok.

Coming to Ikea, I felt that ordering the chicken wings is definitely a must ! It really taste better than most stores that sells chicken wings. Perhaps they infused some Sweden flavors in it.

And of course, ordering meatballs is also one of the compulsory menu in Ikea. The potato and meatball certainly tasted the best in their range. Broccoli, carrot and the Cauliflower, in my wife's opinion, she does taste the frozen smell which she does not like.

This is one of the exclusive menu only during CNY - Mandarin Orange Chocolate Cake. Looks nice, but taste is so-so in my opinion. Fortunately the strength of Ikea is in their permanent menu, free flow coffee and of course their reliable and affordable DIY furnitures.

CNY Day 5: River HongBao and Chinese Zodiac 2022

As the booking of the ticket is fierce, we only managed to get two tickets successfully for the night slot. Well in a way, I take that as a blessing in disguise. This year's River Hong Bao is located within Gardens By The Bay. In fact, the displays were impressive and outstanding especially in the night.

It shows the beauty of the gardens with the Lunar New Year theme. 

Hopefully we will be able to visit a different and better River Hong Bao next year ! CNY and Work have been tiring these few weeks. Really need a break soon or i'll break down instead 😂

CNY Day 4: Wife Homemade Pineapple Tarts

I like Pineapple tarts. So my wife went to get ingredients and baked on her own. Less sugar and salt version. Well really good and i gave her 9/10 for extra room of improvement.

She even created her own Doraemon version just for fun. Think the freshly baked Pineapple Tarts can only last 7 to 10 days in Air-Tight Container. Unlike the commercial ones which may contain preservative to last longer.

CNY Day 1: Visit to Singapore Chinatown and wish everyone Happy Lunar New Year 2022 !

Wish everyone happy lunar new year 2022 ! For the next few days, will be posting contents based on CNY. Went to take this shot of Buddha Tooth Relic Temple during the Non-Peak period at Chinatown. 

In front of the temple, there are displays of different Tigers. Can spend about 5 to 10 minutes to appreciate the Tigers !

So these tigers displays is showcased by WWF. More information can be found on the board. Tomorrow post, I will be showing some Chinese Zodiac taken from Chinatown.
