My Average "Go to" Cai fan at Malaysia Boleh Bugis Junction

Very often, my average lunch meal is Cai Fan or some called it Mixed Rice. Previously early last year, my average 1 meat + 2 Vegetables is around $3.50 to $4.80. But after CNY this year, my same 1 meat + 2 Vegetables cost me $6.60 to $7.50. As above, the same thing cost me $7. I feel that it is really ridiculous since our wages isn't keeping up with the increased cost. Yet company time to time again push back our performance review and gave very limited increment. Yet our work getting inflated and getting more and more. Felt that life is getting tiring.

Another new Coffee Chain, Luckin Coffee

As released by CNA on this article, for my own opinion, i always welcome new concept store. Hopefully the price is much more affordable, of course most importantly is the overall goodness of its pastries, cakes and coffee. As it comes from China, people often said that this is the China version of Starbucks. To be honest, yeah similar but definitely will have some difference one. Hoping to try this one fine day.

Razer Atlas

Razer Atlas, something made for the Pro Gamers that goes for competition. However, anyone now can own one to use it at home. Of course, it had better be used for a good cause, else the price is something crazy to go for. Although it is said to be durable and fit for long usage, glass being glass, once mishandled, probably will be gone instantly. Think twice before buying 😅

Will Singtel ride out the storm in 2023?

Singtel share is something i had held for many years now. In terms of local telco in Singapore, i have been still holding Starhub and Singtel for probably 8 years now. M1 had delisted several years ago. I am not surprised at how much these telco share price had fallen throughout the years. It is low indeed for Singtel, but so does the other stocks. From what my personal thought about this, have trust in Singtel and it will eventually ride out the storm.

Heavenly Wang Laksa and Mee Rebus

Finally had a chance to sit down at have our heavenly wang dinner at the hospital. So i ordered one bowl of mee rebus and laksa set with coffee and toast bread. Coffee and Bread were well made. Mee rebus quite ok, but the laksa is good. I ended up drinking everything in its paper bowl. Really recommended to enjoy their toast, coffee and laksa !

Silicon Valley Bank Collapse :(

Well, this will be a warning sign to the world and indirectly impact the world. This is the time to quickly learnt about the past economic crisis and how to convert this bad times into opportunity ! Well of course every country leader will say limited impact to prevent as much fear as possible. Time to look tightly at the stock markets as well as crypto market !

Trying the new Canberra Gopizza Branch below my block ;)

Yeah this new Gopizza store just opened under my block where i stay. Grab a quick dinner downstairs while busy at home. Service was quick since no other queues, but maybe because of their "goven" which is their own oven that made these pizza just 3mins. Got the hawailan pizza, bacon potato and shoestring fries. Wanted to get their korean fried chicken wings too, but they said it is not ready for sale yet. Guess will have to wait further to try their wings another time. Pizza wise, i felt is soso but of course better than those frozen pizzas. Fries can forget it because is normal. At its price, it is a little costly.

Pine Tree Cafe @ Fortune Center

Had vegeterian early morning and their vegeterian dishes were not bad. Had been going there for my regular "chicken" rice for the past few years. This time, i ordered Yong Tau Hu, Nasi Lemak and Chicken Rice. Soup for the yong tau hu is rather bland, but healthy lah. Both the Nasi Lemak and Chicken Rice are something i will recommend to all :)

Chicken McGriddles & Sausage McGriddles is BACK !

Finally is back and again how i wish it could be a permanent Mcdonald menu. Still good and i enjoyed it very much. Came over to Canberra Plaza to have my breakfast and saw a really long queue because of the Canberra Exclusive Bag. But didnt queue for one. Many scalpers were there to get the bag and give up the meal to others 🙃

Feb 2023 BTO Lowest number of applicants since 2020

Well, for my own personal analysis, figures only shows one part of the story. Feb BTO 2023 isn't really that amazing actually. If it is interesting like when I applied for the Ang Mo Kio Launch last year, that was clearly oversubscribed and popular. Hence people can't really say that the numbers had stablised. It is a hard fact that housing really does increase due to more expensive material and labour costs as well as global inflation. For such a high price, people nowadays only hope to buy something which have good location, even for people who really need to have a house. So yeah, next launch for places like Bedok and Serangoon, perhaps people will go for it in higher numbers.

8 inch diskette in 2023 :)

The first floppy disks, invented and made by IBM, had a disk diameter of 8 inches (203.2 mm). I still keep them today. They are commerically available in the 1970s. And i first acquired them while attending my first PC course back in 1990s while i was around 8 years old. It is indeed a piece of history and in todays' standard, we are able to keep 1TB worth of data in a small microsd card. 

Koufu @ Millenia Walk

Came here for dinner while buying some stuffs in the area. First thing first, the claypot curry chicken here is very good. 🙂 Definitely will recommend for everyone to try. As for the fish steamboat and fish head soup, its very thick and heavy in taste, its ok but easily get sick of it though. The fried dumpling also so so. Not much choices in this food court as most stalls were closed down.

七里香 Qi Li Xiang @ Novena Square 2

Tried this small little corner stall, 七里香 Qi Li Xiang @ Novena Square 2 hidden at one part of the mall. Had passed by several times during cny period and it was closed for a long time. Today managed to try this for lunch before doing my stuffs. We ordered Nasi Lemak and Curry Chicken. Overall price is quite expensive, quantity is normal but quality was below average. 😔

Newton Hawker Centre

Tried one of the prawn noodle store. Ordered the medium size of this Pork Ribs Prawn Noodles at SGD$9.50. Felt abit disappointed of the quality for its price. Probably because it is a tourist spot. As for Sugarcane juice, the standard with ice costs SGD$2.50. Another cup, requested for no ice, so charges for SGD$3. But then the cup is smaller 😐 Oh well...

Ji De Chi Dessert @ Novena Square

After the Goldhill Dessert had relocated, the next best in Novena area for dessert will be this store located in Novena Square. Ordered one durian and one HoneyDew Dessert. Price wise is quite expensive, quantity were small, but quality is not bad. Nice place to chill in and normally it is crowded during lunch time and evening. 

Hanis really too much liao [2023]

It is really getting out of hand for hanis to price their Fish & Chip Set at S$12.80 ! 😡 Previously, it was going at S$9.80 per set and it is a big fat S$3 jump in just a year. Yet the quantity and quality have degraded. Small portion and overcooked. Guess its time to boycott them for others. 

Yakult Supporter all the way !

Haha although this Nutri-grade, not everyone will give a dim to it, but it is worth mentioning the greatness of this Yakult. During my whole lifetime, i still preferred Yakult to Vitagen and many others. But then again, this is classified to be more healthier because it is the lower sugar variant. The original Yakult is the best. I had yet to try this gold version, but many do feedback that it is still very similar to the original one.

Plastic Bag to charge at least 5 cents per bag

Haha, had long expected it and in fact, some supermarket had started some trial for the past few years. I will still pay for the plastic bag to carry my groceries as well using it as my trash bag. 5 cents per bag still all right, because it is still cheaper than destroying the plastic bag. Not saying everyone to think that way, saving the earth is of course an important task for all. So just do it. 😄

New Canadian Coffee Chain coming to Singapore

 

As always, i am always welcome to new Coffee or cafe chain opening in Singapore to give us such diverse flavors of their wonderful food and drink ! Especially coffee, coffee really have many different robust flavors and help represent their store to give us a new experience ! Can't wait to have a taste once they are opened. 😁

Heavenly Wang Kopi O Kosong

While desperate for a quick caffine fix to boost my brain, i chanced upon Heavenly Wang Kopi O Kosong and it was heavenly indeed. Not only it managed to fix my caffine, but also let me enjoy a good cup of kopi O Kosong. Waiting to give 100% energy to my precious one. Recommended for all to try ! 

Jumbo Seafood Feast and wanted to try the Chilli Crab

Previously last year, i tried the Black Pepper Crab from Jumbo. This time, i wanted to try their Award Winning Chilli Crab (even they indicated award winning crab from their receipt). Got three mantou just for dipping into the rich sauce. Also ordered a HK soy sauce style fish, cod fish, vegetable, egg fried rice and 1 jug of Barley due to the hot weather. This time, i tried at their Riverside outlet. Needless to say, the chilli crab is indeed one of the best ! It goes well practically with anything like my fried rice, mantou or even at its own. Definitely worth eating !

One last time at Novena before its closure and relocation

Ordered its Mango Sago and Honeydew Sago for the last time before their Novena Closure and relocated to Orchard. They had been increasing their prices at a reasonable rate and quality of the desserts were good so far ! As understood, they had opened this novena outlet for the past 9 years. Hopefully after the relocation, both price and quality can be maintained or improved !

Free Swensen Deals thanks to AIA

Enjoy two sets of free Swensens meal from AIA. Only exception was we ordered additional pizza and redeem another free Ice Cream. We ordered a baked rice and also a Impossible Burger meal with soft drinks and soup of the day. Not bad lar, since i had forgo the previous year on this trip.

Ng Kuan Chilli Pan Mee :/

Oh well. Corruption happened in many places and time. The chilli pan mee here is not bad, but the portion is very terrible. Certainly not value for money. Just like an appetizer thats all. But then the lunch crowd are still plenty. Unfortunately, now we know where all the profits goes to. 😅

Fu Xing Mei Shi 富兴美食 @ Dunman Food Center

Had been eating Fu Xing Mei Shi 富兴美食 since 6 to 7 years ago. But had not been having this for at least a year so far. Finally managed to come down here for dinner. This place is known for its value for money fish and other dishes. Realised that the prices did increased, but still spent only S$48 for these dishes with rices. $48 for 4 people is really reasonable. In the past, used to live in the east, so can go down frequently. If have chance, will come down again.

Ocean Health Omega-3 Fish Oil 1000MG

 

Decided to get this bundle of Ocean Health Omega-3 Fish Oil 1000MG supplement. One of the best value brands as compared to the other brands definitely. My wife and I had our own requirements, and it met both of our needs. Need it for my joint as i had problems kneeling down to do some of my work. At the same time, it helped with my heart and eyes which are important.

New gopizza coming to my place !!

New gopizza outlet coming to my place ! Having one korean food choice just under my place is awesome ! Will look forward to support the food choices here. I had never had this from its other branches before. Guess i will post my review soon when it starts selling.

New Quarter Pounder with Cheese and the Chargrilled Chicken Fries

Unfortunately due to religious reason, i can't try the Quarter Pounder with Cheese. But i am still able to gather feedback from my colleagues. It tasted fine, but they were not really satisfied 😅. Maybe it is just a bigger patty cheese burger to them. I get my usual Double McSpicy but with the new Chargrilled Chicken Shaker Fries. Tasted like BBQ powder though but is ok. 

Finally Pray For Tai Sui + Peaceful Valentine

Yeah finally done with praying to Tai Sui before it ends and at the same time had a peaceful short dessert with my valentine date despite very hectic and busy schedule everyday. Somehow it got hit with my Ox month and to pray for a better year ahead. Many readings across different masters have similar reading about my Ox's life this year and i started to see the blunt truth with it. Its very difficult to endure things i see which is unjust and unable to "unsee" certain "corrupted" practices. Hence i will get very pissed and really tired trying to ignore these happenings. However, i think it is tough this year and I will try my best to overcome it.

New Starhub 10 gbps fiber connection

As extracted from Hardwarezone SG, Starhub is launching their 10gbps fiber broadband at a value subscription rate of $119.90 per month. However, for a limited time, they will be having early bird discount on the subscription. Being a Starhub customer as well as shareholder, i had been using their 2gbps dedicated fiber broadband which is due mid of 2023 together with several mobile lines with them. Can't really benefit the 10gbps for now, but maybe in the near future. 

3 Piece Chicken Meal [Standard] in 2023

With 8% GST and overall cost increased, one standard set of KFC 3 piece meal now cost S$11.10. Let's monitor and see how cost will evolve in the coming years. Early last year, we are looking at S$10.10 for the same set. So it is around 9.9% increase from last year. However, my salary had yet to increase as much as 9.9%. But job inflation is here, increasing much workload at a pay cut to inflation. 😵

New Mercedes Benz GLA 180

Just happened to hop onto a new Mercedes Benz GLA 180 without selecting GrabPremium. Think this driver just joined grab as joined in Feb 2023 and i was lucky to get up one of them. The internal was damn spacious and comfortable to sit in. Not forgetting the new car's smell, smooth and quiet ride to my destination. If i ever have that disposable cash to buy a car, probably will eye on this SUV. 🙂

Disagea 6 at a discount !!!

Finally after waiting for more than a year prior to its release, i always wanted to get this game at a discount instead of getting it at full price which is crazy expensive. So was just browsing the switch store and realised that this game is at USD29.99 instead of USD59.99 ! Straight up, i get this instantly ! Time for me to enjoy the game when i managed to squeeze out some spare time !

Auto Replacement of my Passion Card

Can't remember when my POSB Passion Debit Card expired, but realised it had expired upon receiving the new card from my mail. Difference that there is Yuu integration, but personally i felt that the benefit of Yuu app fell short right from the start. I realised many people just apply anything without thinking much. Only get what you need or utilize.

St. Giles Hotel Breakfast [JB 2023]

Came to St. Giles johor bahru to have hotel breakfast while waiting to get groceries and marketing. At about RM40.30 per person, breakfast was quite limited. Only Coffee and omelette are the safe bet, the rest quite so so. But environment is nice, perhaps because it is still new. Again, the 5G here was great to use as i only activate the RM3 plan for a day. 

Valentine Flower to my Wife

This year need to budget abit since all the expenses and prices had gone up. Bought this from novena square while queuing for my Shilin Chicken Cutlet. As it was very late, i was looking at this banner while the polar aunty was closing the store. Then she suddenly say want to buy? I immediately said yes. Think she was surprised at how fast i respond. As she was closing, she gave me two hotdog pastries free of charge. Haha what a gain 😁

Had not been at Sushi Express for quite some time. It does really change alot in terms of sushi and its price. I would say that it is still value for money and the sushi were fresh and great. Not forgetting its free flow of hot green tea, wasabi and soy sauce to go with its great sushi and food. Of course today is valentine day and wish everyone to spend more time with your loved ones. 

Migrated from my $500+ kopitiam Card to FairPrice App

Finally i had made my first transaction on my new FairPrice account from the Fairprice App. Actually it really does benefit us as the user. Utilizing the app using my google pay. So i tested on one of the kopitiam stall while having my dinner. The original 10% off still applies and in addition earn linkpoints + earn credit card rebates in every transaction ! Most importantly, it is easy to use and i recommend everyone to try it since NTUC Fairprice also dominates local supermarket in Singapore.

Well again, not all instructions were perfect, but its definitely good for most people. The negative side of this is because some irresponsible people will take this for granted and will not maintain their hygiene by coughing and spitting around. Not that wearing mask prevents that, but people wouldn't dare to do that openly. Let's see how it goes and how can it bring us back to the pre-covid-19 days 😅

Online Casio Tape Cartridge cheapest !

The original sample size only lasts me for a few prints. Think its 2 meters. But the original one selling in my local book store is selling at $20 for 8 meters. Wow that is really expensive ! Bought 5 sets of 8 meters OEM at $3.70 each. Still cost less than $20 with shipping somemore from shopee. Tried printing and still get the same good use quality. So don't say i never share ah !
 

Flash Coffee Deals 2023

Received a deal from Flash Coffee and the deal will last for a certain period only. Might as well just use it. For those who have yet to register, you can sign up from the app store or google play store. Look out for the email or app notification where they could give a good deal. So i redeem and ordered via Flash Coffee App. Almost immediately, the store will receive an order and brewed the drinks of my choice. Within 5 mins, both of my drinks arrived. 😃 Just to share my personal favourite is Chocolate Hazelnut Shake, probably the best drink from Flash Coffee for those who wants a Non-Caffine option.

Grove 素林 Asam Laksa Vegetarian

Came here to have a late breakfast/lunch. Wanted to have Bread and Egg Set, but was told that Egg need 1 hour to prepare. 🤔 Nevertheless, i ordered my usual favourite vegetarian Hainanese Chicken Cutlet Rice. My wife ordered their asam curry which is a first, i went to take a sip. 😆 Really not that bad. She also tried it and said that it was good. The rice is normal but probaby the best presentation they had done. 😅

Happy Birthday to my Wife :)

Happy Birthday to my wife 🥳 Busy day everyday and tiring routine accompany us through the day, but will never stop us to pause a while to get a mini celebration. Bought a white tiramisu cake from Chateraise from Novena Square. As this cake is sold out on the shelves, they actually do have spare in their freezer. So fortunately there is, but it is frozen. As it a one hour trip home, leave it in the box in room temperature. At the time of eating, it is abit soft, but still a little frozen from the inside. Had a small slice and kept it in the fridge to eat for the next few days.

Topping up my umobile prepaid card / 5G Network

Having to keep my umobile number for several years or even for the past decade, using umobile had been easy and good value. Recent years, they don't sell the top up card, but rather print out receipt to top up. Even at the umobile store, you can top up the value straight to your malaysia number. In Singapore, i'm using Starhub Postpaid $20 Sims-only plan, but is only 4G. They do offer 5G variant at a higher price. As i just went in Malaysia and utilize my umobile line again, this time, my Samsung Z Fold 4 which is also one of the fastest device in the world using 5G network, i experienced 5G in Malaysia. 😅 The speed were great even in jb custom. Wow shiok leh !

Emart24 @ Jurong Point

Oh man, how i wish that Emart24 comes to Canberra Plaza, but that was subjective though. Anyway, its a new concept stall based in Korea that is in Singapore. I found these products that were interesting and went to buy it. So far, i tested both Strawberry and Americano. It was great ! I didn't went to add ice to it, and drank it from a paper cup. It tasted very well and solid. Definitely recommended to get it when you are at the store.

Common Kopitiam opposite of KSL Mall

Another common kopitiam store while waiting for Soon Soon Bak Kut Teh store to open. We reached too early and decided to have Roti Canai and Nasi Lemak as a breakfast appetizer. Roti Canai was so-so, but the chicken curry was better than expected. Nasi Lemak was streaming hot when it was served. The taste of the nasi lemak rice, egg and sambal were better than average. 

KopiTiam Lautan Taman Pelangi [JB 2023]

While waiting for the baby shop opposite to open, i had a second round of breakfast at this common kopitiam in JB. My wife ordered the minced pork soup with dry noodle, soup and noodles were not bad. What i like about it, was the big pieces of fish slices. I ordered Stir Fried Mee with Fried Chicken. Fried Chicken were big, but taste normal. Noodles were delicious ! Beside this store, have many other chicken rice options there.

Singapore's Core Inflation unchanged at 5.1%

With this kind of core inflation at 5.1% and increased overall expenses, salary had been pretty bad. Increment, promotion and everything is either delay or put on hold. If one does not do anything to increase, who will even care about you? Even job is inflated, more tasks and work for you to tank, but not paid. Putting the inflation and increases expenses, in fact our salary or money goes down in value. 😥

Made in Japan Garlic - Don Don Donki

Bought the probably most expensive Garlic for $5.90 in Don Don Donki. Local Supermarket normally costs only SGD$1.00+. Problem is all local supermarket is closed at 10pm now, so my only option is Don Don Donki and i need garlic urgently. Hence we bought this and cook bee hoon the next day. Oh well, it tasted the same. 😅
